Anna University Trichirappalli, Ariyalur Campus was established as per Govt Order: Ms. No 396 Higher Education(J-2) Department dated26.09.2008 with the aim to provide quality technical education to the people in backward area of Ariyalur District. It has been renamed as Anna University of Technology Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur Campus based on the Government of Tamilnadu vide Letter No. 3334/J2/2009-2 Dated 24.02.2009. The institution is located at Kavanoor village, 20 Kms away from Ariyalur Town and the College is spread over 24.39 acres.
The campus was started during the academic year 2008-2009 to offer B.E degree courses in the branch of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 60 students in each branch. During January, 2009 B.E part time course in the Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Electrical and Electrical Engineering was started with an intake of 60 in each department. Also during academic year 2009-2010 an additional course in B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started with intake of 60. In the academic year 2010-2011, B.E courses in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with medium of instruction in Tamil was started.
After merging, the College is functioning in the name of University College of Engineering Ariyalur, Anna University, Chennai from 1.8.2012. Currently UCEA is offering B.E degree course in five different branches with the student strength of 947 (Boys- 622, Girls - 325)
Inorder to support the acedamic work, UCEA have installed High Tension Electrical connection with 2 * 500 KVA transformer and one 250 KVA Genset.
UCEA has one academic block with 20 Lecture Hall and 18 laboratories.It has been Equipped with 10 seperate laboratories shed apart from Acedamic block. The construction of new academic, administration and laboratories are essential to provide quality education to the students. The College campus is enabled with 50mps Wi-Fi connectivity. The NSS, YRC, and RRC activities have been started and offering the value based education to the students.
Conferences and workshops at national level and guest lecturers have been organized in different Departments of UCEA to strengthen the student’s knowledge in recent advances in Engg.
UCEA has boy’s hostel for accommodating 200 students and girl’s hostel for accommodating 250 students. Hence construction of hostel for boys & girls are required to provide suitable atmosphere for comfortable stay and study.
Ample facilities are provided to play all the major games. Under the able guidance of specialized coaches for all the games the players are given exposure to tournaments at various levels like state level, national level and All India inter university Level Competitions. Our players won the Bronze medal at All India inter university fencing Competitions during year 2010- 2011.
The improvement of play grounds will provide a better opportunity for the students to participate at various levels.

Department Of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2009 and is part of the institute since its inception. The department runs successfully with highly qualified, knowledgeable and energetic faculties with an average teaching experience of 15 years. Our department has 290 students in total i.e., 62 in final year, 65 in 3rd year Tamil, 66 in 3rd year English, 26 in 2nd year Tamil and 71 in 2nd year English. The students of our department are meritorious and have an average cut-off of 85%. The entire batch of students is admitted through single window counseling. We follow the curriculum of Anna University, Chennai. The syllabus is unique, advanced and framed on the basis of practical application. The department reveals the student’s knowledge by conducting various programs like project exhibition, technical quiz, paper presentation, CAD contest, poster presentation and so on. The faculties of our department actively participate in various Conferences, Faculty Development Programmes, and Workshops to enrich and update their knowledge in the field of Civil Engineering.
Department Of Electronics and Communication Engineering
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2009. The dedicated team of staffs of this department involve in the creation of future Electronics and Communication Engineers with innovative ideas and creativity. In order to compete with international expectations of the ever growing technocrats, the department provides a global standard knowledge based technical education in the field of Electronics and Communication. Having these concerns, it provides the students with rich technical knowledge on the basics of electronics and communication system, so that they can also take part in the fast growth of their field by developing more and more appliances. The faculty members of this department are well working to turn the present generation towards development of the department by cultivating innovative skills among the students. The Department of ECE was installed with latest instruments and devices, which in turn induces the interests of the students to learn more in their field.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering tries bridging the gap between Computer Science and Electronics Engineering and motivates students to research all aspects of embedded systems. The actual reserach domains include automotive electronics, model checking, embedded control and navigation and ambient assistive technologies.
The staff of the department foster and develop competences in the fields of Microcontroller Hardware Design, Embedded Systems Software Design, Wireless and ad hoc Networks, Embedded Networking, Real-Time Systems, Model based Design, Microcontroller Hardware Design, Embedded Control Systems, Digital System Design and ASIC and FPGA Design.
The staff of the Embedded Systems comprises of full-time and visiting faculty members , all of them having a strong background in Electronics, Computer Science and Embedded Systems Technology. Besides teaching, our staff is involved in research and development projects.
Department Of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College of Engineering Ariyalur was incepted in the year 2009 with the state of the art infrastructure as per the norms and beyond. The average experience of faculty in the department is thirteen years. The Mechanical Engineering Department has been taking long strides in the field of science and engineering. One of the oldest and active departments, it anticipates the rapid developments in technology and software and provides the most sophisticated lab facilities and excellent infrastructure to bridge the gap between innovation and academia. The students are trained in various aspects of mechanical engineering to meet out the needs of industries with the help of well qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic faculty who are in close association with the industries

Our department provide strong Mathematical background to Engineering Graduates to cope up with the needs of emerging technology at National and International levels and undertake significant research projects individually and in collaboration with other Departments / Institutions / Industries.

The Department of Physics is doing excellent active research in almost all frontier areas of Physics. The department has well equipped laboratories through which creative ideas are implanted in the minds of the first year students of B.E. programme of five branches, viz., CIVIL, CSE, ECE,MECH & EEE. Also, we are committed to train new generations of researchers and leaders, to make new partnerships with government and industry and to apply the tools of physics to new problems to benefit the society
Department Of Chemistry
The department is handling theory and practical papers besides teaching environmental science and engineering. The principles and applications of these subjects are taught by us for the students. The faculty members are also involved in various developmental activities of the institution in different capacities.The department is actively engaged in various fields of research such as polymer, electrochemistry, nanomaterial’s and inorganic complexes for medicinal applications. The department is also helping the final year students to do their project work
